Bri helps coaches, consultants, and creators design thriving online communities — often paid, but always intentional.

Our Substack Live conversation was full of practical advice on what it actually takes to create spaces where people feel connected and supported.

Don’t Rush Into Building a Community

Bri cautioned against jumping into community offers too quickly. In the first few years of business, most of us are still figuring out who we serve, what our process looks like, and how to deliver consistent results.

“It took me four years to refine my niche. You can’t rush that process.”

Instead of trying to “build the plane while flying it,” she recommends getting grounded in your services first. Once you have clarity and energy, then experiment with community models.

The Four Types of Communities

Bri uses a simple matrix to explain community models:

Education vs. Connection (on one axis)

Free vs. Paid (on the other)

From this, four clear types emerge:

Nurturing Communities (free + education)

Transformative Communities (paid + education)

Engagement Communities (free + connection)

Affinity Communities (paid + connection)

Each type has strengths and challenges. What matters is aligning the model with both your goals and the value your members are seeking.

Audience vs. Community

A key distinction Bri stressed: an audience is one-to-many, but a community is many-to-many.

Substack newsletters, for instance, often lean audience-first. Turning that into true community requires intentionally shifting the focus so members begin interacting with one another, not just with the host.

Simple steps:

Encourage member-led chats and discussions.

Model the kind of sharing you’d like to see.

Create small prompts that gradually build culture.

Recognition Beats Rewards

When it comes to engagement, recognition is more powerful than money. People thrive when their contributions are acknowledged.

That recognition can look like:

Spotlighting members publicly.

Thanking them for consistent contributions.

Inviting them to share their expertise in a session.

Gamification features can help, but Bri emphasized that they only work if they reward behaviors that truly add value to the community.

To learn more about this aspect of community, you can listen to her podcast episode here.

Start With Your Sweet Spot

Bri’s final advice was simple: build the kind of community you actually enjoy running.

If you thrive on events, lean into event series. If content lights you up, start there. If connection is your gift, design systems where members can connect with one another.

Community is a long game. It has to give you life in order to work.

Thanks for reading MultiDimensional Leaders! What began as a casual conversation turned into a deep and inspiring exploration of how habits are formed, sustained, and shared.

As someone who also writes, creates, and coaches others on how to build consistency, I found his story, and his practical systems, worth sharing with a broader lens. Below, I’ve pulled out some of the biggest gems we uncovered.

📘 The Surprising Origin of Happy Habits

Gunnar shared that the inspiration struck on a beach in Sydney after reading just 15 minutes of a book on discipline. That moment turned into a goal: write a focused, practical book by July 28, his late father's birthday and (fittingly) his 28th book.

This combination of meaningful timing and personal accountability became a powerful anchor, something we could all use when starting creative projects.

✅ The 4P Habit Framework (with a Twist)

If you’ve read Atomic Habits, you’ll be familiar with some of the foundations. But Gunnar added something I don’t often hear emphasized: partnership.

Here’s his version of the framework:

Pause – Let life’s interruptions become opportunities

Plan – Make habits visible, simple, and time-bound

Practice – Focus on consistency, not perfection

Partner – Share goals, find accountability, collaborate

“Most habit books overlook partnership, but that’s often the missing piece to succeed.”

This really resonated with me. Whether it’s writing together, joining a fundraising challenge, or just telling someone your goal, doing things with others adds stickiness to your habits.

🧠 Writing Tips from a Prolific Author

I asked Gunnar how he keeps up the pace of writing nearly one book per year. His answer?

“I write my books backwards.”

Here’s what that means:

Start with the outcome: What do I want the reader to feel or do?

Plan the launch: What’s the event or milestone?

Then build the book to hit that deadline.

This strategy, paired with small daily writing windows (30 minutes a day) and removing distractions (like hiding Instagram), allowed him to finish Happy Habits in just 42 days.

📚 A Series for Today’s Attention Spans

Happy Habits is just the first in a 7-part series of short, focused reads, each tackling a unique theme like:

Brainstorm Buddy (AI-powered ideation)

Digital Dementia (navigating tech overwhelm)

Attention Addiction (rethinking how we scroll)

What I appreciate is his intentionality: shorter books, made to be actually read, not just bought. Gunnar mentions the author J.R. Heimbigner, The Minimalist Author on Substack, who teaches how to write multiple books by focusing on one topic at a time. Each book is concise, often just 60 to 80 pages.

🔄 When You’re Stuck, Don’t Stop—Pivot

One of my favorite parts of our chat was how Gunnar addressed writer’s block. He doesn’t force it, instead, he works around it:

Do book-related tasks like gathering early readers or prepping a launch email

Give yourself two choices: Write Book A or Book B (instead of “write or don’t write”)

Stack habits: Add a small task to something you already do

🧍 Identity Before Action

We wrapped the session reflecting on identity. Gunnar reminded us that great habits aren’t just about doing more, they’re about becoming more.

“Good habits don’t just change your to-do list. They change how you see yourself.”

You don’t “try” to write a book. You become a writer.
You don’t “make time” for movement. You become someone who moves daily.

This is a core principle I deeply believe in too. True transformation comes not from effort alone, but from aligning your actions with who you want to be.

🙏 Thank You & What’s Next

Huge thanks to Gunnar for sharing his insights and to everyone who joined the live conversation. You can check out his new book here:

📘 Happy Habits on Amazon
✍️ Happy Habits - Signed Book

And if you want more conversations like this, or are working on building your own creative habit—you’re in the right place.

Thanks for reading MultiDimensional Leaders! let their book gather digital dust.”
— Robbie Samuels

Robbie’s goal is clear: 1,000 reviews on Amazon by the end of 2025. His strategy? Keep the book alive long after launch day.

One of his signature tactics is the Kindle Flash Sale, a cross-promotional event where entrepreneurial authors discount their books to 99 cents. “It’s a lovely way to stay visible,” Robbie says, “and support each other as authors.”

More than a sales push, it’s a community-building engine. Authors bring their audiences, cross-promote, and reach new readers in the process.

From Networking Expert to Book Launch Coach (by Accident or Fate)

Robbie didn’t plan to become a book strategist. In fact, he resisted it.

“I was known for running successful launches... but I was trying to become a networking expert. I didn’t want the book launch label.”

It wasn’t until a conversation with his mentor, Dorie Clark - who asked him for the third time why he wasn’t a book launch coach - that something clicked. “I finally said, ‘Why not?’” he shared.

What followed was the first Kindle Flash Sale, launched just two weeks before Black Friday 2023. He didn’t make much from it, but in December alone, he earned $15,000 in unexpected revenue. That moment sparked the creation of his platform, Biz Book Pub Hub.

Your Book Should Lead to Something

“People write the book they want to write. But often, it’s not the book their audience actually needs first.”

Robbie works with authors to align their book with a business goal. For many, that means tying the content to a coaching offer, a keynote, or a program. Without that alignment, the book becomes a “brick,” something you proudly stand on once, but don’t leverage.

Instead, Robbie encourages authors to turn the brick vertically and use it to wedge open doors - to conversations, referrals, and new opportunities.

Multi-Passionate, Strategic, and Focused

“You don’t need to pick just one lane. You need to be clear who each offer is for.”

Robbie is a true multi-passionate entrepreneur, author, strategist, Zoom expert, and coach. His secret isn’t in choosing just one role, but in defining the right audience for each offer, and creating systems that connect them.

He also offers a curated directory of ethical experts to support authors with editing, publishing, and marketing, all housed under bizbookpubhub.com.

Visibility Comes from Generosity

“Show up and offer value. They discuss moving away from hustle and “masculine” energy into more aligned, holistic models that include collaboration, rest, and intuition.

Human Design & Marketing Alignment (03:30–06:00)
They explore how Human Design and Gene Keys informed their marketing. Michele shared that she leaned into collaboration over ads. Ads didn’t work because their messaging connects with more aware audiences—making authenticity and community more effective than funnels.

Subconscious Beliefs & Theta Healing (10:00–16:00)
Theta Healing is explained as a mix of meditation, psychology, and prayer aimed at uncovering deep limiting beliefs formed in early childhood. It's ideal for clearing internal blocks around visibility and voice.

Voice Scars & Visibility Wounds (12:00–14:00)
They reflect on generational and personal experiences that caused “voice scars” — feeling silenced or embarrassed. This emotional imprint often limits visibility, especially for women and healers.

EFT Tapping & Energy Clearing (17:00–22:00)
Tapping is described as a tool for raising subconscious blocks to the surface and then clearing them through meridian stimulation. Bree will share a custom GPT to quickly generate personalized tapping scripts based on what surfaces in healing sessions.

Channeling, Intuition & Trust (24:00–30:00)
We discussed the different ways intuitive guidance shows up (images, knowings, feelings), and how trust builds over time. Channeling is described as accessible to everyone—not just mediums.

Speaking from Flow, Not Script (25:00–27:00)
Scripted delivery often blocks authentic expression. Speaking from flow allows messages to come through that are meant for someone in the audience - even if you don’t realize it in the moment.

Co-Facilitated Workshop Details (22:00 & 33:00)
Preview their upcoming joint workshop:

Theta Healing to surface blocks

Live EFT Tapping to release

GPT-generated tapping script

Join us live for the workshop

Hawaii Healing Retreat - Embracing your Inner Mermaid

A Rebirth Like No Other

Michele Parad

I had the pleasure of speaking with Tania Ranguelova (check out ), a gifted healer about her inspiring transition from the world of corporate finance to a spiritually fulfilling life in Hawaii.

Tania’s story is a testament to the power of environment in our pursuit of inner peace and self actualization. The daily schedule builds towards a rebirth ceremony, symbolizing a new beginning for each participant.

Nature Immersion: Connecting with the land through activities like snorkeling in sacred waters and participating in Hawaiian ceremonies is a core component of the retreat.
